iOS 10 features an API called 'CallKit' that will allow VoIP applications to integrate with the built-in 'Phone' app to place and answer calls.

Will ZoiPer be taking advantage of this integration, or will I need to upgrade to another client to get proper integration in iOS 10?

Hello,

We are evaluating the possibilities and are planing to implement something related to that. However the CallKit will not give the option to have VoIP integrated in the native dialer in general. It will just give the ability to the user to choose a VoIP call as an option from the Contacts. At least this is what is currently available with the iOS 10 Beta.

I think the most important function of callkit is allow voip app able to answer incoming calls from lock screen. Hope Zoiper can be integrated this feature in future.

What the CallKit is to actually integrate the incoming VoIP calls with the native Call handling for the incoming calls. So, if there is CallKit implemented the VoIP calls will appear with the same screen as the native GSM ones. Other than that you will have the ability to decide which call to take if there are simultaneous GSM and a VoIP call.  Another thing is that the call log is also shared for both GSM and VoIP calls.
